hotel for dogs review

Based on the book of the same name, Hotel for Dogs is a straight forward family movie from Dreamworks and Nickelodeon. That being said it makes sense that this movie is geared toward children. And they are the ones that will ultimately enjoy the movie.

I hadn’t paid much attention to Hotel for Dogs when I say that it was in theaters. It wasn’t until I saw it on store shelves that I realized it had several dog breeds that I adore in it. The main one as you can guess is the cute little Boston Terrier Georgia.

All in all Hotel for dogs is your wholesome family film, there aren’t going to be many surprises for the adults, but the kids will probably love it. It has all of the classic elements that will endear it your child’s memory for many years to come.

Since this is a film from Dreamworks and Nickelodeon all of the acting and effects were well done as you would expect. Budgeted at $25 million, I had thought that the film cost a lot more as I was watching it. As you can guess the dogs are the real stars of the film and their training to interact with the Rube Goldberg like machines was highly entertaining.

Which is a major element of the film. After all it is a hotel for dogs.

As I said this movie is for children, though most parents will probably be able to enjoy their stay in the hotel for dogs, too. If they can’t it is important to remember it isn’t for the parents. How many of the movies that thrilled you as a child have withstood the test of time? Not many I am guessing, some are better left in the past where nostalgia can do its thing. And that is what Hotel for Dogs will be for your children many years from now.
